The moving headframe
The special exhibition "Doppelbock auf Museum" brings the eventful history of the headframe above the German Mining Museum Bochum to life.
It makes witnesses of past working environments speak: about technology, culture, memories, sounds and smells.
And it shows what happens when rust threatens industrial heritage and how science can help to save important industrial monuments as objects of industrial culture for the future.
Mining mineral resources, memories and knowledge
The exhibition uses interactive stations, an "audio shower" and numerous media stations to convey the eventful history of the Doppelbock in a lively way. The headframe is also linked to various aspects of mining history, the development of industrial culture and the conservation and restoration of large museum objects such as the headframe.
Over the horizon
A special experience is the 360-degree panorama in the exhibition, which simulates the fantastic all-round view that visitors have from the headframe at a height of over 70 metres.
